Irelands north coast and its hinterland holds many
wonders. Glorious scenery awaits in the counties of
Donegal in the northwest and Antrim in the
northeast; one of the wonders of the world can be
witnessed at the Giant’s Causeway; you can taste
the produce of the world’s oldest whiskey distillery
and learn of ancient and modern history in
Londonderry. During this tour, we will travel to
Donegal, a fairytale of a place, featuring a charming
harbour, serene beaches and stoic stone remains of
centuries past, with a visit to Glenveagh National
Park, a remote and hauntingly beautiful wilderness
of rugged mountains, pristine lakes, tumbling
waterfalls and enchanted native oak woodland in
the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains. We have a
guided walking tour of Derry; officially Londonderry;
the only remaining completely intact walled city in
Ireland and one of the finest examples of a walled
city in Europe. A visit to Northern Ireland wouldn’t
be complete without a tour of the oldest working
distillery, so we have a visit to Bushmills Irish
Whiskey Distillery in County Antrim, with a wee
dram! Along with a visit to the famous Giant’s
Causeway, an area of about 40,000 interlocking
basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic
fissure eruption on the north coast of Ireland. We
round off this visit with a guided tour of the capital
city, Belfast, finishing in the historic Titanic Quater,
where we visit the wonderful Titanic Belfast, a hightech
experience of how the ship was built, through
to its final subterranean resting place. Travelling via
Stena Line return ferry crossings between Cairnryan
and Belfast.
