Rescheduled Tour From 2020
Plymouth is our destination for this tour, steeped in
history, there’s a lot to delve into, a city shaped by
its past. Immerse yourself in a wondrous world of
exploration as you walk in the footsteps of
adventurers and explorers who strolled the streets
of Plymouth in years gone by. It is now a vibrant
waterfront city packed full of attractions, activities,
shopping, entertainment and sightseeing.
During our stay, we visit the Grade II listed port of
Charlestown, featured in TV’s popular drama series
“Poldark”. The Harbour was built in the 18th century
to support the china clay and copper mining
industries, here we visit the Shipwreck Rescue and
Heritage Centre, telling the story of the port, ships
and wrecks along this coastline. Moving on to
Mevagissey, with a maze of narrow streets and the
Lost Gardens of Heligan, created over a 200 year
period, now rediscovered and restored. A drive
along the rugged Bodmin Moor takes us to Jamaica
Inn, with its Daphne Du Maurier associations and a
museum filled with smuggling artefacts, continuing
to the north Cornwall coast and Tintagel, with its
dramatic castle ruins, and the pretty harbour at Port
Isaac, which was the setting for TV’s Doc Martin
series.
